Trust and safety guide
What service-provider verification should mean
Verification is useful only when customers understand what was checked. A badge should describe evidence, not promise workmanship, pricing, availability, or a successful outcome.
Reviewed 2026-08-23Separate identity, credentials, and reputation
Identity review confirms who controls a profile. Credential review checks a stated certificate, licence, or association membership. Reviews describe customer experiences connected to completed work. These are different signals and should not be collapsed into one promise.
Check the current job
Even a reviewed profile does not replace a written scope. Customers should confirm price, timing, materials, payment method, access, safety requirements, and what happens if the scope changes.
Report inaccurate claims
Marketplaces and associations need a clear process for correcting expired, misleading, or disputed credentials. Customers should be able to report a profile without posting sensitive information publicly.

Post the scope, location, and timing, then compare provider responses before deciding who to continue with.
